A dull, unoriginal shooter
Men in Black II: Alien Escape is one of the most boring shooters ever played. There is nothing original about it, and apart from the playable characters, you never get the feeling that you are playing a Men in Black game. Moreover, the graphics, even for a GameCube game, are super ugly. So why buy this game when there are countless better GameCube alternatives available?

Men in Black II: Alien Escape for the Nintendo GameCube attempts to bring the action and humour of the film of the same name to the console. As a player, you step into the shoes of the iconic Agent J and Agent K while trying to neutralise various alien threats. Although the premise seems promising on paper, the execution left me feeling rather uninspired. The levels are linear and repetitive, with little variation in enemies or environments, which quickly becomes boring.
In my opinion, the controls are one of the biggest disappointments of this game. They feel clunky and make the action more frustrating than exciting. This is a shame because you would expect a game based on such a dynamic film series to have a bit more fluidity and thrill. Graphically, Men in Black II: Alien Escape makes little impression, and the voice acting and music lack the charm and humour that make the film so beloved. It feels as though the soul of the Men in Black franchise has not been successfully translated into the game.
For fans of the Men in Black franchise, it might be fun to dive into this world for a bit, but don't expect too much. The game feels more like a missed opportunity than a tribute to the film.
